Who determines the
loan recipients?
Members of our Scholarship Committee determine all loan recipients. This committee is made up of members of the Board of
Directors.
How are
loan recipients
selected?
Loans are awarded to those applicants with the greatest need.
We determine needs using a formula containing several factors, such
as the family income expected to be available to the student, the cost of
tuition at the institution selected, and the number of students in the family
who are in college.
Where do I get a
loan application?
You can get both the Loan
Application Form
and Financial Aid Questionnaire the following ways:
- Download the forms online.
- Visit the Guidance office at any Lancaster County high
school
- Call us at 717.397.7920
- Send us email at
info@dollarsforscholarslanc.org
It is essential that families
follow the directions carefully to complete and submit the financial
aid questionnaire, a copy of the parents' most recent income tax return, and the application itself. Likewise, the questionnaire is useless
without a completed DFS application.
Do you accept late
loan applications?
Applications received after the due date
of April 30th will not be
processed.
What is the deadline for receipt of
completed forms? The deadline is April 30th of the year
submitted. All requested information is required by that date.
Incomplete applications will not be considered.
When will I be notified?
Recipients of DFS loans will be notified by June 15th.
What are the requirements for
repayment? Repayments shall be made to the organization on a
monthly basis, beginning no later than six (6) months from the date of
graduation (or withdrawal from school), unless other arrangements are
made with the organization.
Where does DFS get the funds?
DFS monies come from three sources: contributions solicited from
community individuals and corporations, interest from an endowment
account, and repayments from the recipients of prior loans.
Remember, these dollars are recycled.
The loans are not grants. Your repayment enables your fellow countians
to have the same opportunity as you.
