New Name For CSF Says It All
The Citizens’
Scholarship Foundation of Lancaster County has a new name. At its May
meeting, the Board of Directors voted to change the name to...
Dollars for
Scholars
of Lancaster County.
Since its founding in
1961, CSF Lancaster has always been part of the national organization
called Dollars for Scholars.
At its founding, the name “Citizens’ Scholarship Foundation of Lancaster
County” was chosen to emphasize the fact that our organization sprang
from the energy and commitment of citizens who wished to support local
students in financing their higher education.
Since its inception,
CSF has awarded interest-free loans rather than scholarship grants as
other chapters of Dollars for Scholars
have done. Repaid loans are then recycled to the next generation of
students.
The Board chose the new
name because it more accurately reflects our mission. The word
‘scholarship’ in our name suggests grants rather than loans. We
believe ‘Dollars for Scholars of Lancaster County’ more accurately
reflects what we do and will be easier for people to remember. |
